Abstract

ROSAS SALINAS, Rodolfo. The ballgame ring of San Pedro Ocotlán, Southwestern Puebla, Mexico: a cult of the sun?. An. antropol. [online]. 2020, vol.54, n.2, pp.35-44.  Epub Nov 29, 2021. ISSN 2448-6221.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iia.24486221e.2020.2.75464.

There are very few studies about the past of the Southwest of the state of Puebla. Yet it is possible, with ethnohistorical sources and archeological evidence, to glimpse its relations with their nearest and farthest neighbors, even with the nahuas of the Valley of Mexico. In the present case, the solar iconography from an unpublished ballgame ring points to interaction between this region and Central Mexico.

Keywords : Iconography; Nahuas, ethnohistory; ballgame ring; Postclassic.
