Abstract

TINAJERO, Romeo  and  PARTIDA-PEREZ, Alejandra. The Eurasian Collared-Dove (Streptopelia decaocto) in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, with notes on its reproduction. Huitzil [online]. 2016, vol.17, n.1, pp.145-150. ISSN 1870-7459.

We recorded the presence and nesting of the Eurasian Collared-Dove (Streptopelia decaocto) at the state of San Luis Potosí, México. Our first record of the species was obtained in February 2006 in the town of Tamuín, located in the eastern portion of the state. In the following years, we observed an increase in the abundance of the dove in this site, as well as new observations in other 28 towns. We documented nesting in 2013 and 2015, when we recorded 16 nests. Nests were mainly built on electrical wires, and eight nests were re-used.

Keywords : nesting structure; exotic species, invasion.
