Abstract

SILVA QUIROZ, Yolanda  and  CRUZ PINEIRO, Rodolfo. Niñez migrante retornada de Estados Unidos por Tijuana: Los riesgos de su movilidad. Región y sociedad [online]. 2013, vol.25, n.58, pp.29-56. ISSN 2448-4849.

This article explores the risks that migrant children and adolescents who have been returned to Tijuana by U.S. authorities faced during their migratory journey. We outline the theoretical framework for the analysis of migration risks. Administrative records and a survey of 115 children support our findings about risks, the dimensions of vulnerability and human rights violations. The results show that the desire for employment and family reunification in another country motivate their trip, but this always involves consequences. They are not always fatal, but governments should not ignore them.

Keywords : risks; migrant children; vulnerability; return; human rights violations.
