Abstract

RUVALCABA-AYALA, Fabián René  and  COVARRUBIAS-NAVARRO, Mario. The Structural Fire Engineering a national approach and case of study. Ing. invest. y tecnol. [online]. 2017, vol.18, n.3, pp.253-264. ISSN 2594-0732.

This paper begins with a brief review of Structural Fire Engineering as a design speciality that provides stability to constructions when structural elements are subjeted at high-temperature during a fire. Construction material behavior subjected to fire action is studied through fire standard tests and the results are used to take decisions at the moment of designing elements. It is also presented an experimental investigation, whose aim is to detemine the reduction of the compressive strength of lightweight concrete masonry wallettes at high temperatures. The wallettes were exposed to 20ºC, 200ºC, 400ºC, 600ºC, 700ºC y 800ºC temperatures.

Keywords : Fire; masonry; mortar; compression; blocks; concrete.
