Abstract

PODESTA SIRI, Rossana. Nuevos retos y roles intelectuales en metodologías participativas. RMIE [online]. 2007, vol.12, n.34, pp.987-1014. ISSN 1405-6666.

In recent decades, a series of research studies developed in Latin America has begun to displace the traditional ethnographic focus and implement new methodologies of a participative type. In this article, I shall explain some of the central critiques of the classical focus, and present an evocative methodological model based on native authorship. I shall also quote some of the significant new projects in this new line of research (Lindenberg, 1993, 1996; Gasché, 2004; Podestá, 1997, 2002, 2003; Bertely, 2006) and discuss the risks of work of this type when certain principles, especially those that refer to the intellectual posture (formative, political and ethical), are not explained.

Keywords : ethnography; methodology; participative research; inter-learning; authorship; Mexico.
