RESTREPO, Olga Luz. Ciudadanía, Género y Conflicto en Pueblos Indígenas. Convergencia [online]. 2005, vol.12, n.37, pp.11-57. ISSN 2448-5799.

In this document you will find solid interpretation of the situation of indian women in the context of the armed struggle going on in Colombia. It points out the increasing importance of indian women in their communities and in the leadrship of indian social organizations. Nevertheless they continue being discriminated in society, in their own communities and even in the ranks of the Indian Movement. This essay also discusses the impotance of using Gender as an adequate cognitive category for analising particuar cultural situations. This document is a contribution to the literature about the danger and risks for women due to incrising discrimination and violation of human rights. It evidences the emergence of rights consciousness in times of crises, despite incrising limitatios and difficulties. Wars have been colective processes which, directly and indirectly, have produced changes in the realm of citizenship.

Keywords : woman; indian; gender; discrimination; conflict.
