Abstract

GONZALEZ CHAUVET, Gerardo  and  CAPETILLO HERNANDEZ, Juan. On the Influence of Brentano in Freudian Thought. A Contribution to Intellectual History from the Father of Psychoanalysis. Hist. graf [online]. 2017, n.48, pp.141-183. ISSN 1405-0927.

The conceptual and historical signes presented in this article open up the question of the likely importance which the encounter between Sigmund Freud and philosopher and psychologist Franz Brentano might have. Several historical circumstances that psychology saw during the last decades of the 19th century are analyzed, clarifying certain similarities and differences between the psychology proposed by Brentano and the one which was later developed by Freud. It also explores how each author addresses the concepts of representation, affection, object, intention and unconscious mental acts. In the light of this, we have sought to clarify what the Natural Sciences meant to Freud, within which he always included psychoanalysis.

Keywords : Freud; Brentano; psychology; science; representation; affection; object; intention; act and unconsciousness.
