Abstract

ULRICH GUMBRECHT, Hans. "Genre" as a concept -and some intellectual transformations within literary studies. Hist. graf [online]. 2014, n.43, pp.41-49. ISSN 1405-0927.

There was a time, a little less than half a century ago, in which the concept of gender was loaded with the promise of a future thinking that would be oriented towards an institutional transformation of literary studies. It was only when my friend Perla Chinchilla recently spoke on the project of organizing a panel discussion on "gender today " that I realized that the topic had lost the state of glory that it had once enjoyed in my intellectual world. I felt immediately interested in this contrast, a feeling that grew once I could not find a straightforward explanation that explained what had happened, and became even larger when I couldn't remember any instance of open polemics to which I could attribute the diminishing interest in the concept of genre.

Keywords : gender; discourse; interpretation; theory; literature.
