Abstract

SILVA LONDONO, Diana Alejandra. Street Vendors in Mexico City's Historic Center (1990-2007). Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2010, vol.72, n.2, pp.195-224. ISSN 2594-0651.

This article analyzes the link between street vendors' associations and government transparency that surrounds Mexico City. The author holds that lack of the rules of the game governing this relationship creates a space for the negotiation of (in)formality. To explore this issue, an analysis of the correlation of forces present in the removal of street vendors in 1993 and 2007 is presented.

Keywords : informality; street vendors; Mexico City; political competition.
