Abstract
QUECHA REYNA, Citlali. Niñas cuidadoras en contextos migratorios: El caso de las poblaciones afrodescendientes en la Costa Chica de Oaxaca. Cuicuilco [online]. 2015, vol.22, n.64, pp.155-175. ISSN 0185-1659.
This article offers a review concerning the processes of child rearing regarding the migratory phenomenon, analyzing concepts such as transnational motherhood-fatherhood and/or motherhood-fatherhood from a distance. The paper talks about the theoretical-methodological proposals currently being used to study this phenomenon; carefully pondering how these concepts enshrine the capacity for action amongst children. An important aspect in the processes of child-rearing in migratory contexts is the participation of the extensive family with regard to the care of the young ones. Grandparents and uncles often play a preponderant role as tutors; nevertheless, on this occasion, particular attention will be placed on the case of young girls. There is also an introduction to the theme of specificities regarding girls (not necessarily first-born) and the fact that they are integrated into the networks of child rearing at such a young age, as well as the role they play in the processes of child rearing from a distance, or within contexts other than their place of origin.
