Abstract

JORDAN BUENANO, Jeanette Elizabeth; JIMENEZ SANCHEZ, Álvaro  and  LOPEZ PAREDES, María Alexandra. Violence and school mediation in Ecuadorian adolescents. Dilemas contemp. educ. política valores [online]. 2021, vol.8, n.3, 00033.  Epub June 11, 2021. ISSN 2007-7890.  https://doi.org/10.46377/dilemas.v8i3.2656.

This research aims to make a diagnosis of violence and its typologies in high school students. In turn, the types of mediation used for the different conflicts are analyzed. Questionnaires and interviews are used with students, parents, teachers, and principals of various educational centers in the city of Ambato (Ecuador). The results show that psychological and verbal violence is the most recurrent and that the most used protocol is the act of commitment or agreement between those involved. It is concluded that the mediation mechanisms are insufficient given the numerous and varied cases of violence reported. It ends with different suggestions to improve mediation among adolescent students.

Keywords : Mediation; violence; adolescents; education; Ecuador.
