Abstract

EVANGELISTA AVILA, José Luis. The Two Upbuilding Discourses of 1843. Kierkegaardian Pronouncements. Rev. filos.open insight [online]. 2020, vol.11, n.22, pp.99-127.  Epub June 26, 2023. ISSN 2395-8936.  https://doi.org/10.23924/oi.v11i22.405.

The works signed by Kierkegaard instead of a pseudonym include, among others, the series entitled of Edifying Discourses. These works were written in a genre characteristic of religious thought, so they have had a minimal reception compared to the pseudonymous Kierkegaadian thought, especially, in their academic review. The present article proposes a reading of the Two Edifying Discourses of 1843 as they represent a position of Kierkegaard with respect to his way to face the philosophical tradition when considering the features of what has been considered his philosophical reflection.

Keywords : Critique of modernity; edifying discourses; single individual; subjective truth; subjectivity.
