Abstract

Objective: to explore the Rarámuri women’s cultural resignification, and the modification of ideology, practices, identity customs and beliefs, religious rituality, education, family dynamics and marriage when moving away from their rural environment of origin to seek new life opportunities in the urban area of Chihuahua. Methodology: based on a feminist methodology, the voice is given to 19 Rarámuri women whose testimonies were collected in various interviews. Results: it is evident the need to develop strategies and social instruments that, in addition to improving their quality of life, contribute to preserve some cultural traits of their community. Conclusions: it is possible to define to what extent the urban area lifestyle affects the rarámuri women’s customs and their conception of reality and survival, especially on new generations.
