Abstract
NUNEZ NORIEGA, Guillermo. Gender studies of men and masculinities: What are they and what do they study?. Culturales [online]. 2016, vol.4, n.1, pp.9-31. ISSN 2448-539X.
We present a comprehensive understanding of the gender studies of men and masculinities, through two articulated reflections: a) the link with feminism and the LGBTTI studies, and b) its object of study. Our proposal derives from a constructivist epistemology and the poststructuralist theory. We consider that these studies are a subfield of the gender studies and that their objet of study is neither men nor masculinities, in themselves, but a dimension of sociocultural and power relations (androcentric and/or heterosexist), which tend to inscribe/resist/transform gender in male and men's bodies, subjectivities, and in the whole social fabric.
Keywords : feminism; gender studies.
