Abstract

In this essay offers some ideas to the debate about the imposition of a national law in Mexico that does not consider the particular categories of indigenous communities. We reflect on whether the existence of a legal system with mono-ethnic homogenizing trend and approach is compatible with multiculturalism. The intention is to show how the creation of a discursive field that makes visible the Indians did not always translate into a legal system that enables its ontological existence. It also tries to show the process of construction of otherness that the double function as a source of national identity and indigenous culturalization visibility purposes explaining taxonomic diversity, but also used.
