Abstract
ARRIAGA MARTINEZ, Rafael. Max Weber y la incidencia de la religión en los procesos de estratificación social. Culturales [online]. 2009, vol.5, n.10, pp.45-90. ISSN 2448-539X.
In this article we offer to contribute certain elements liable for a better understanding of Max Weber's conceptual position on Catholicism, defined as a religion generally in conflict with the capitalist ethos. We sustain the pertinence of Weber's thesis bears weight to certain empirical evidence favourable to Catholics of European descent in terms of social upward mobility. It has to do with a social process that is possible to explain in the light of a series of concepts that Weber defines in his work as diffuse rationality, historical forces, and the paradox of the relation of man and fate or unintended consequences as Raymond Boudon would say.
