Abstract

GUZMAN CHAVEZ, Mauricio Genet. El culto del Santo Daime: Apuntes para la legalización del uso de sustancias psicoactivas en contextos ceremoniales en México. Revista Col. San Luis [online]. 2013, vol.3, n.5, pp.56-89. ISSN 2007-8846.

This article discusses the decriminalization of psychoactive substances of natural origin used in ceremonial contexts in Mexico. The topic and the problems are developed around the cult of the Santo Daime, a religion of amazon-brazilian roots that makes use of the ayahuasca drink. The Santo Daime has been internationalized; in some countries the legal disputes have been resolved favorably for their followers. We are pursuing three goals: 1) To disseminate important aspects on the worship and doctrine. 2) Submit the allegations that have given consistency to his controlled use primarily in Brazil. 3) Reflect on the characteristics and challenges of the legalization of the Santo Daime in Mexico.

Keywords : Santo Daime; psychoactive substances; religion; legalization.
