The objective of this article is to quantify the levels of technical efficiency of the automotive industry of Guanajuato and explore the link between productive specialization and efficiency. To that end, and with information from 2004, 2009, and 2014 Economic Censuses; a Data Envelopment Analysis was carried out and a data panel regression was developed. Having measurements of technical efficiency of the automotive industry of Guanajuato allows knowing the relative performance of this industry while providing elements for the design of policies that strengthen this industry.
