REBOLLO, Óscar. Urban Social Transformation: Community Action in the Globalised City. Gest. polít. pública [online]. 2012, vol.21, n.spe, pp.159-186. ISSN 1405-1079.

With this article we aim to present an analysis of the urban question based on the existing academic literature and conceptual and theoretical development of the idea of urban social transformation. It explores the urban transformation by comparing the globalization effects and the impacts of community processes. Moreover, it introduces the concept of community action and a typology of community actions based on the research developed in the city of Barcelona (Spain). Finally, the conclusions point out the opportunities and the boundaries of community action in order to be a support of a new institutional approach more inclusive and participatory.

Keywords : urban transformation; modes of participation; community action.
