Abstract

BATTHYANY DIGHIERO, Karina  and  KATZKOWICZ JUNIO, Sharon. Perceptions on childcare policies in Uruguay. Rev. Mex. Sociol [online]. 2022, vol.84, n.3, pp.597-624.  Epub Aug 01, 2022. ISSN 2594-0651.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iis.01882503p.2022.3.60319.

The aim of this article is to study perceptions about desirable public policies for early childhood care, analyzing their correlation with the role of children care providers and with women’s labor force participation. Through Multiple Correspondence Analysis and Classification Analysis, a typology of the social representations on care benefits was constructed, identifying three groups: time policies, income/time policies and care centers. Distinct groups were found, each showing differences on care center attendance, mothersʼ labor participation and redistribution of care responsibilities.

Keywords : care; gender; care policies; perceptions.
