Abstract

GIROLA, Lidia. Historicity and Temporality of Sociological Concepts. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2011, vol.26, n.73, pp.13-46. ISSN 2007-8358.

This text points out several dimensions for studying conceptual change in sociology. How do the historical-cultural context and that of the discipline affect the concepts we use to understand them? How do these concepts impact our understanding of reality? As an example, the author considers the impact of multiple historical, temporal, and representational factors on the construction of the notion of modernity over time.

Keywords : sociological concepts; conceptual change; historicity; temporality; social representations and imaginaries.
