Abstract
ALLIER MONTANO, Eugenia. Tlatelolco, Realm of Memory and Tourism Site. Glances from ‘68. Rev. mex. cienc. polít. soc [online]. 2018, vol.63, n.234, pp.215-238. ISSN 0185-1918. https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.2448492xe.2018.234.65790.
For several decades, the student movement of 1968 has become one of the most important events within public memories in Mexico. Remembered for what happened on October 2 in Tlatelolco and symbolized as a watershed in the struggle for political democracy, 1968 has been anchored in both public memories and realms of memory. Among the latter, probably one of the most relevant is the Plaza de las Tres Culturas, in Tlatelolco, Mexico City. In this article we analyze its conformation and meanings as a realm of memory, as well as the place it has been occupying in national and international trauma tourism circuits.
