Abstract

The present article analyzes -with respect to the increasing number of disputes raised in the countries of the region pertaining to private international family and minority relationships- the issues related to: equal procedural treatment, international judicial cooperation, recognition of foreign judicial decisions and validity of foreign public documents (marital status certificates). These issues are addressed in the light ofthe existing solutions set by the current Inter-american Private International Law and the current developments in the Mercosur.
