In the work of Fray Bernardino de Sahagún, the prologues and addresses to the reader can be read, autonomously, as a pedagogical program. In this article, the author explores the "prólogos" and "advertencias" that precede Sahagún's General History... as well as the possibility of an autonomous reading of the aforementioned texts in order to highlight the hermeneutical and pedagogical program formulated by the Franciscan.
