Abstract

Introduction:

Hamman syndrome, or spontaneous pneumomediastinum, is a rare condition characterized by air in the mediastinum.

Clinical case:

a 20-year-old young man with dyspnea and substernal pain related to asthma exacerbation. Radiological tests show signs of pneumomediastinum and cervical subcutaneous emphysema.

Conclusion:

spontaneous pneumomediastinum is a benign and self-limiting condition that resolves without surgery. Radiological tests are essential.
