Abstract

JUAREZ TORNADO, Miguel Ángel et al. Duplicated gallbladder in a patient with cholelithiasis. Acta méd. Grupo Ángeles [online]. 2024, vol.22, n.3, pp.225-227.  Epub Feb 10, 2025. ISSN 1870-7203.  https://doi.org/10.35366/116830.

Gallbladder duplication has a low incidence reported in 1:4,000 births, its presence increases the risk of bile duct injury. Generally, it is an incidental finding during surgery, however, there are reports describing it prior to the surgical event through imaging studies. The pictures of lithiasis or cholecystitis do not present any symptomatology different from what is usual in patients without anatomical variants. Management is similar, being surgical when symptoms are present, resecting both vesicles, and in case of not presenting symptoms, conservative management is chosen.

Keywords : laparoscopic cholecystectomy; chronic cholecystitis; congenital abnormality; anatomical variation.
