Abstract

MORENO LAZARO, Javier. La otra España: Empresas y empresarios españoles en la ciudad de México durante la revolución. Am. Lat. Hist. Econ [online]. 2007, n.27, pp.109-156. ISSN 2007-3496.

We offer in this paper new evidences which proves that Spaniards took part in the economic development of Mexico, at least, in the beginning of the 20th century. Far from the old paradigm which insisted in their negligence, Spanish immigrants formed in City of Mexico meritorious industrial companies as well as other firms related which financial services, transport and farming. Nevertheless, only a few members of the Spanish community became businessmen. We can not speak at all about a "privileged migration" since most of the Spaniards riving in Mexico were wage earned.

Keywords : Mexican Revolution; Spanish migration; business history; networks; national minorities.
