Abstract

DAVILA AGUILAR, Carlos Alfredo. Anti-liberal tendencies in the political discourse of the American left. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2020, n.50, pp.179-195.  Epub Aug 05, 2024. ISSN 0185-1616.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.24484903e.2020.50.75732.

This essay reviews several recent examples of how political discourses and demands on minority rights have been extended on the American left that could be described as anti-liberal; and that have become popular in recent decades, mainly among university students. The idea is to link this trend with phenomena such as increasing political polarization, the relegation of the lower classes from public debate and the outcome of the 2016 presidential election

Keywords : discourse; minorities; democracy; liberalism; United States.
