Abstract:

An examination is made of research on teaching scientific writing. Explained initially is the existing relationship between spoken and written language. Then a description is given of research that emphasizes the link between the writer and the audience, as well as the characteristics of the situation or context in which writing is learned. Lastly, articles about scientific writing in universities are presented. The study suggests the relevance of completing a more systematic and integral analysis, from a perspective of skills development, of the production of scientific texts.

Key words: Writing; scientific information; skills; higher education; Mexico
