Abstract

CAMPO-MENA, Enrique M. del  and  PEDRAZA-FALCON, César E.. Transduodenal ampullectomy for villous adenoma. Gac. mex. oncol. [online]. 2023, vol.22, suppl.1, pp.105-108.  Epub Sep 11, 2023. ISSN 2565-005X.  https://doi.org/10.24875/j.gamo.22000136.

First described by William Halsted in 1899, transduodenal surgical ampullectomy has been superseded by the standard surgery for ampullary tumors, the Whipple procedure. New minimally invasive technologies have placed endoscopic ampullectomy as a treatment option as established by international guidelines. We present the case of a 67-year-old male with villous adenoma confirmed by pathology, who underwent transduodenal ampullectomy, with favorable results. It is necessary to continue with systematic studies in our country that allow dictating guidelines for surgical and endoscopic alternatives.

Keywords : Ampullectomy; Ampulloma; Biliary cancer.
