Objective:

To determine the sociodemographic characteristics associated with preventive attitudes and practices against breast cancer in mothers of an educational institution in Lambayeque, Peru, 2022.

Methods:

Observational, analytical and prospective study; carried out in a population of 490 mothers through structured questionnaires.

There was a mean age of 43 years, predominance of secondary level of education (48.6%), SIS insurance (58.2%), marital status married (37.1%), parity 1 to 2 children (46.5%) and Catholic religion (66.7%). 44.7% and 66.1% presented indifferent attitude and negative prevention practices, respectively. Parity (p = 0.036) and religion (p = 0.010) were associated with attitude; type of insurance (p = 0.016), marital status (p < 0.001) and parity (p = 0.024) were associated with practice.
