THOWINSON-HERNANDEZ, María Camila and HERNANDEZ-MARTINEZ, Alejandro. Chemotherapy induced febrile neutropenia and associated infections: a review. Gac. mex. oncol. [online]. 2019, vol.18, n.4, pp.328-333. Epub Aug 08, 2022. ISSN 2565-005X. https://doi.org/10.24875/j.gamo.19000296.
Febrile neutropenia is an important complication for cancer patients receiving chemotherapy, while infections and sepsis tend to be the most frequent and important outcomes in patients that develop this condition due to their high mortality. Therefore, knowledge of these phenomena and its impact on the patients life is crucial. In the present article, a review of the literature is made on the PubMed databases, selecting updated articles with information on febrile neutropenia, both in Spanish and English, and then concluding that being able to identify neutropenia in a timely manner and providing an effective treatment can lead to better outcomes for patients.
