Abstract

CELIS TOUSSAINT, Claudia. Training Proposition for University Teachers. Rev. latinoam. estud. educ. [online]. 2021, vol.51, n.1, pp.255-281.  Epub Oct 20, 2023. ISSN 2448-878X.  https://doi.org/10.48102/rlee.2021.51.1.202.

University teacher training must offer the tools that allow the teaching team to develop the skills in their students to face a complex and uncertain environment. The objective of this article is to present a training alternative for university teachers that responds to the demands of today’s society. Its bases are Mezirow’s transformative learning theory, Vygotsky’s sociocultural constructivism, and the concept of learning communities. Because it is a proposal framed in a Jesuit university, a central element of its educational model is retaken: Ignatian pedagogy. Due to the difficulties of some students in their process of joining the university, the proposition focuses on first-semester teachers, aiming to extend it gradually to the entire teaching team. The expectation is that this training model will lead to equal opportunities for academic success for all students, especially for those who come from disadvantaged backgrounds and who join Higher Technical University level programs or undergraduate degrees.

Keywords : university teachers’ formation; higher education; higher technical university.
