Peri-operative mortality in the elderly will continue to be a health problem. The greater the age increased the possibility to present complications in the perioperative increases. The adult patient has a number of chronic diseases when he arrives at the operating room. Some of them with repercussions systemic important. It is required comprehensive management prior to surgery in each of the affected areas or hidden situations, product of age, that have not shown symptoms yet. The two organs that are most frequently affected are the cardiovascular area and the lungs. Myocardial infarction and pulmonary thromboembolism are the most frequent causes of mortality in this age group. Less aggressive and invasive procedures as well as a full monitoring one area required to reduce mortality in the elderly.
