Abstract

VAZQUEZ PARRA, José Carlos  and  ORTIZ MEILLON, Viviana. Educational innovation as an element of the double social responsibility of universities. IE Rev. investig. educ. REDIECH [online]. 2018, vol.9, n.17, pp.133-144. ISSN 2448-8550.

It is increasingly common for universities around the world to join the international effort to improve education and provide quality services for the largest number of young people. However, it is regrettable when the increase in quality could be diminished by a lack of interest in undertaking and adopting innovation processes in their educational models, being left behind in what they offer. Nowadays, it is not enough to repeat models that are often obsolete for the new needs of Industry 4.0; it is necessary to innovate. This article seeks to reflect on the need for educational innovation as part of the social responsibility that universities have with the community, considering that it is not enough to be responsible from a welfare approach, if they do not do what intrinsically corresponds to them, by providing quality education to future generations.

Keywords : university social responsibility; educational quality; development; information technology; competitiveness.
