An essay of synthesis, in a global perspective of World history, of the sometimes progressive and sometimes violent changes produced in the religious life of the Mexican Catholics and their Church; changes produced by decisions of the Holy See, i.e. the Roman Curie and the Pope, changes induced by Vatican II and results of the competition between a Church that had enjoyed a religious monopoly since the XVIth century and the young and dynamic Evangelical Churches.

Keywords : Catholic Church; Protestantism; Globalisation; Vatican; Pope.
