This study examines locative adverbial constructions with possessive pronouns, which in Spanish are considered non-normative. The subject has recently aroused interest among researchers, although more studies are needed to clarify the phenomenon. We provide a thorough literature review followed by an analysis of the use of these constructions in the Spanish province of Jaén. The analysis is based on responses from 64 university students from Jaén, homogeneous in age, geographic origin, and sociocultural level. The analysis takes an extralinguistic factor (sex) into account, as well as linguistic factors (type of adverb, gender and grammatical person of the referent, etc.). It also includes an exercise to measure respondents’ degree of acceptance of the constructions analyzed.
