Abstract
RODRIGUEZ ALFANO, Lidia. MITIGATION STRATEGIES ON ARGUMENTATIVE JUSTIFICATIONS IN CORPUS MONTERREY-PRESEEA. Anu. let. lingüíst. filol. [online]. 2018, vol.6, n.1, pp.219-250. Epub Dec 06, 2021. ISSN 2448-8224. https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.adel.6.1.2018.1482.
Abstract: This article reports a research about mitigating strategies in argumentative justification. The sample consists of 823 mitigated justifications (82%) which appear in the total of 996 arguments produced by interviewed individuals during the first 30 minutes in the 108 sociolinguistic interviews of sociolinguistic corpus Monterrey-PRESEEA, collected from 2006 to 2010. The theoretic-methodological sustain corresponds to a proposal constructed by Rodríguez Alfano (2015) on articulating different philosophical and scientific postures for argumentation and politeness studies. On this basis, there are defined: Basic categories, analytic dimensions, methodological procedures and sociolinguistic distribution of attenuation devices according to ‘sex’,‘age’ and‘education’.
Keywords : justification; attenuation; modalization; procedures topoi power↔ideology↔discourse.
