Abstract
ORTIZ DIAZ, Edith et al. The Lord of San Francisco Caxonos: osteobiographical profile. An. antropol. [online]. 2020, vol.54, n.1, pp.117-131. Epub Jan 15, 2021. ISSN 2448-6221. https://doi.org/10.22201/iia.24486221e.2020.1.68707.
The fragile and highly fragmented skeleton of the “Señor de San Francisco Caxonos” was discovered during archaeological explorations in San Francisco Caxonos at the Sierra Norte, Oaxaca, in 1998. One of the outstanding aspects of this burial is the associated offering, which contained a series of objects like fragments of turquoise mosaics, a necklace of human teeth and an exceptional golden pendant. These objects suggest the individual was of high status. The radiocarbon dating demonstrated that the Señor de San Francisco Caxonos, died at approximately AD 1520 +/- 40. Archaeological and biological studies permit us to reconstruct the age, sex, life conditions, and biological affinity of this individual.
