Abstract

FREIER, María. Forced disappearances - Disappearances. The Argentine experience - Subjective implications. Inter disciplina [online]. 2023, vol.11, n.31, pp.93-120.  Epub Nov 10, 2023. ISSN 2448-5705.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2023.31.86082.

This article exposes the relevance of disappearance of persons in the context of the civic-military dictatorship in Argentina (1976-1983); describes, also, the oppressive climate, the systemic plan of persecution, kidnappings and disappearances suffered by Argentine society, which undertook resistance and struggle with fear and pain on its back, and the importance of national and international activism for the prosecution of crimes against humanity. The author writes from a situated thought, as the sister of a kidnapped-disappeared person during the 1978 dictatorship; refers to the creation and consolidation of institutions for the recognition and search of disappeared persons and assistance to victims, as well as the application and development of forensic anthropology in the investigation of human rights violations as subsequent factors that have contributed to the construction of the social and subjective historical memory of this scourge in Argentina.

Keywords : forced disappearances; forensic anthropology; argentine dictatorship; crimes against humanity.
