Abstract

CARTON DE GRAMMONT, Hubert. The effects of globalization on labor migration of the rural Mexican population. Inter disciplina [online]. 2021, vol.9, n.25, pp.157-178.  Epub Nov 22, 2021. ISSN 2448-5705.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2021.25.79972.

Our methodological approach is that, to understand the evolution of labor migration flows, a key factor is the reconfiguration of labor markets that form a complex and coherent system for global capitalism. We analyze how, in the transition from fordism to globalization, labor markets were modified, migratory flows were rearranged and the sociodemographic profiles of rural migrants themselves changed. We found that, with the dominance of global value chains, both in the countryside and in the city, the migrations of the rural population were profoundly transformed.

Keywords : labor migrations; labor markets; networked companies; fordism; globalization.
