Abstract

AYALA REYES, Susana. Anthropology of education in Mexico: interdisciplinary plot and political warp. Inter disciplina [online]. 2020, vol.8, n.22, pp.137-155.  Epub Jan 15, 2021. ISSN 2448-5705.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2020.22.76422.

The anthropology of education in Mexico has been established since the 20th century as a solid field of research. Studies carried out by Mexican or foreign anthropologists who have carried out research in this country have opened dialogues and set guidelines for the development of the field in other countries. Paradoxically, education is one of the subjects least formally studied in the institutions dedicated to anthropology in

Mexico. In this article, I reflect on the possible causes of this absence and point out the corresponding dialogues between different disciplines through which the anthropology of education is constructed. I argue that before the social and educational problems that Mexico faces in the 21st century, it is necessary to open formal spaces to do anthropological research on education from an interdisciplinary perspective.
