In this paper I will approach Dussel’s project of “Transmodernity”. I will begin with a brief dialogue concerning the proposal of Spanish philosopher Rosa María Rodríguez Magda, who has worked on this same terminology, but with a different content. Dussel’s project could be synthesized as a criticism of Modernity and an attempt to break with it through a “trans-modern pluriverse”, which would mean the “World’s New Age” as well as a “different process of civilization”. This different project of civilization would be different to the existing one, as right now Modernity extracts, assimilates and instrumentalizes everything that is functional to it, excluding the rest with its Eurocentric colonial narrative. In that sense, the project of Transmodernity is an ambitious proposal, which is being architectonically built.
