Abstract

RODRIGUEZ-BAEZ, Ana Carolina; PEREZ-MORALES, Nayeli  and  MARTEL ESTRADA, Santos Adriana. Applications of fluorescent nanodiamonds. Mundo nano [online]. 2024, vol.17, n.32, e00088.  Epub Apr 01, 2024. ISSN 2448-5691.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485691e.2024.32.69673.

Nanodiamonds are carbon-based particles that exhibit characteristics that open the opportunity to various application areas such as drug transport, cell tracking, cell biomarkers, etc. The properties of these nanostructures allow their use in a wide selection of industries, thanks to the fluorescence they produce. The fluorescence of nanodiamonds is related to color centers. The objective of this work is to collect documentary information on fluorescent nanodiamonds. In conclusion, these nanoparticles have various challenges, such as particle size, the formation of functional crystallographic defects in their nucleus, as well as the homogeneity of their surface.

Keywords : nanodiamonds; fluorescent nanodiamonds; carbon-based nanomaterials; color centers; vacancies.
