Abstract

ALVAREZ-AMPARAN, Marco Antonio  and  CEDENO-CAERO, Luis. Analysis and relevance of catalytic processes to sulfur removal from fossil fuels. Mundo nano [online]. 2021, vol.14, n.26, 00003.  Epub Mar 03, 2021. ISSN 2448-5691.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485691e.2021.26.69633.

Nowadays processes to remove pollutants such as sulfur (S) have become very important by the environmental regulations imposed. Therefore, the presence of S as natural component on the crude oil formation is commented in this work. The main reasons to remove S of the crude oil fractions were discussed. The refining process and conventional technology to remove S from the crude oil fractions were explained. Complementary or alternative technologies to remove S to reach international regulations were analyzed. Finally, future expectations about the use of fossil and non-fossil fuels were discussed.

Keywords : sulfur; fossil fuels, desulfurization of fuels, desulfurization technologies.
