In this contribution the research and technological development activities in nanoscience and nanotechnology (N&N) performed at the Center for Applied Sciences and Technological Development (Spanish acronym: CCADET) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico are described. A brief historical review since 1995, when the development of N&N began at the Center, is presented. The lines of research, development and innovation on N&N at CCADET and the number of academic staff members working on these lines are described. Collaborations and projects undertaken in the area, as well as the infrastructure and laboratories available for research, development and innovation activities, are reported. Patents requested and granted, together with teaching and human resource training activities implemented in collaboration with several graduate programs recognized by PNPC-CONACyT and schools of the University, are also reviewed. Finally, the main achievements of the researchers of CCADET in N&N and the areas of opportunity and growth prospects in this field expected to arise at the Center in the short and medium term are described.
