Abstract

SALDIVAR, Laura  and  WALSH, Casey. Nanotecnología para el tratamiento de agua. Claves sobre la investigación en México. Mundo nano [online]. 2015, vol.8, n.14, pp.53-69.  Epub May 28, 2021. ISSN 2448-5691.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485691e.2015.14.52513.

This article presents the results of a survey administered to researchers in the area of nanotechnology and water in Mexico. We analyze the opinions they expressed concerning a series of key topics: networks of collaborative research; funding; risks related to the use of nanotechnology (NT) and nanoproducts (NPs) for the treatment of water; public opinion regarding NT, and the regulation of NT. We recognize the great importance of this field and argue for more research concerning the toxicology of NPs used in the water sector. Finally, we suggest that research in Nano be expanded to include ethical, legal, social and environmental dimensions.

Keywords : Nanotecnology (NT); water treatment; Mexico; toxicity; risk; regulation.
