Abstract

CARDENAS VARGAS, Julio César. The Social Representation of Public Institutions of Political Nature in the State of Colima Citizenship. Rev. mex. opinión pública [online]. 2017, n.22, pp.55-69. ISSN 2448-4911.

In recent years, Mexican society has reflected a marked disapproval of much of the actions that members of public institutions conduct, especially the political ones. Faced with this problem, a quantitative and qualitative study was conducted addressing public opinion in the state of Colima with the aim of identifying the possible social representation that holds the colimense citizenship respect to such instances and identify the influence that the institutional actions have on the culture that the individual distinguishes as benchmark of action. Through an online questionnaire and various depth interviews to citizens of high social interaction, it was found that the population perceives colimense public political institutions covered with a high degree of mistrust. An important point is that, while presenting an atmosphere of disapproval, citizens preserve the hope that the situation becomes different in the near future.

Keywords : Social representation; public opinion; public institutions; citizenship; political institutions.
