Abstract

TUNON PABLOS, Esperanza  and  MARTINEZ ORTEGA, Juan Iván. Hermila Galindo’s political-feminist proposal:Tensions, oppositions and strategies. Rev. interdiscip. estud. género Col. Méx. [online]. 2017, vol.3, n.6, pp.1-35. ISSN 2395-9185.  https://doi.org/10.24201/eg.v3i6.143.

This article analyzes Hermila Galindo’s feminist-political proposal using as sources her papers presented at the two Feminist Congress held in Yucatán in 1916 and herbook La Doctrina Carranza. How feminism was understood by some women of the time and her links with “carrancismo”and other political interlocutors are also analyzed. Using gender perspective as an analysis tool, this article poses Galindo’s discourse, with its tensions, oppositions and strategies, as the discourse of a “modern woman”who is involved in politics but, at the same time, shares traditional hegemonic gender standars.

Keywords : suffragist movement; feminist congresses; gender; History; Mexican Revolution.
