Objective:
Evaluate whether the artisanal crab fishing activity is carried out with sustainable development criteria in Bahia of Kino, Mexico. Methodology: Gordon-Schaefer bioeconomic model.
Results:
The increases in fishing effort are not generating production levels that maximize benefits, due to strong pressures on this species, which puts its sustainability at risk.
Limitations:
The inconsistency in the official records of fishing agencies, due to changes in criteria during the study period.
Conclusions:
In the design of policies, for the management of fisheries resources, economic and social variables should be introduced that describe the prevailing market structure and evaluate the levels of economic efficiency, as well as the social relations of production.
